Deadlight Holiday : Live Music at St. Ambrose!

Deadlight Holiday : Live Music at St. Ambrose!

After a killer weekend of music at St. Ambrose with The Crush, we’re getting right back on the grind this weekend with a visit from some exciting newcomers from Grand Rapids.

Deadlight Holiday  – performing as a trio in our intimate tasting room venue – will be bringing the entertainment this Friday from 6PM – 9PM.

In their own words:

On September 18th, we will be playing at St. Ambrose Cellars in Beulah, MI from 6 – 9 pm. We will be acting as a trio due to the size and location. The set will feature all of our current songs, as well as 10 newer songs we have yet to reveal. There will be wine tasting, great food, and a kind crowd. Please come if you can, as we can promise that it will be very up and close, personal show unlike any we have played before 🙂

Spacious guitars, soft vocals, drum samples, strange toys, bass lines, and glow in the dark gear are just part of what sets Deadlight Holiday apart from the rest. They are definitely going to bring a unique show to the tasting room and you won’t regret taking in the set while filling up your growlers and howlers with some of our latest creations.

You can check out more of their music at both their official site and their ReverbNation site.

K. Jones & The Benzie Playboys : Live Music @ St. Ambrose!

We’ve talked about The Go Rounds, we’ve talked about Fauxgrass – and that leaves one more band for The Crush: K. Jones & The Benzie Playboys! You maaaay be familiar with these guys. They have a pretty good relationship with St. Ambrose Cellars, you know. Or you might have caught one of their scorching sets at Blissfest, Wheatland, Bayou on the Bay or any other number of awesome festivals here in Northern Michigan.

You can best understand their unique Zydeco sound with some excellent videos:

As you can see, it’s going to be a foot-stomping good time when they take the stage at The Crush.

Moving pictures a little too fancy? Here’s some still shots:

The Go Rounds : Live Music at St. Ambrose

The Go Rounds : Live Music at St. Ambrose

Last week, we did a bit of profiling on Fauxgrass – one of the three bands that will be joining us this weekend (Saturday, September 12!) at the tasting room for The Crush.

Today, we’re kicking off the short work week with a look at one of the hottest bands in Michigan, if not the country, Graham Parsons & The Go Rounds! These delightful fellows are going to be joining us at The Crush as well, and you don’t want to miss one more opportunity to see them in a local, intimate setting before the rest of the world learns all about what we’ve been enjoying here in the Michigan area for a while now.

As it says on their official website :

Kalamazoo’s favorite suns. High energy twang-rock and jelly-roll.

The Go Rounds are a furious live act and progressive recording unit, fueled by the history of its diverse lineup and a collaborative spirit injected into everything from songwriting to arranging. Equally inspired by their record collections as the beauty of the Great Lakes State, the band explores soul music, baroque folk, art rock, country and classic rock n’ roll.

And that pretty much nails it.

I can attest from personal experience that these guys absolutely rock every single second on stage – they’ve been a highlight of many festival trips this summer for us, including a tremendously fun set at Hoxeyville a couple weekends ago.

You can listen to some of their music on their official site as well, appropriately enough under the “Music” tab.

There’s also an interview covering the (seriously excellent) new album “don’t go not changing”, which is available now here.

You’ll find them at The Crush this weekend, and I highly recommend that you don’t miss this!

With The Crush just a little over a week away, we thought it would be appropriate to take a closer look at the three bands that’ll be joining us on this night of celebration. First up, we’re going to learn a bit more about Fauxgrass. If you don’t know them, you soon will!

Their bio, from the official Fauxgrass site:

The Fauxgrass approach to music, original and traditional, has quickly landed them a place in the progressive bluegrass community since their 2011 inception. With a fresh, playful, and heart-felt approach to structure Fauxgrass performances flow between genres with unique instrumental communication. The current members consist of Adam Balcer (guitar, vocals), Tim McKay (bass, vocals), Joey Schultz (banjo, vocals) and Jason Wheeler (mandolin, vocals). They have toured extensively through the mid-west, Colorado, and northeast coast, as well as establishing themselves as a regular presence in the Michigan music scene. They are continuing to build momentum as their unique songwriting and fun performances find enthusiastic reception around the region. Their creative approach to a familiar musical style is a breath of fresh air, and something worth experiencing for the acoustic music lover.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of attending a Fauxgrass show, you’re in for a treat.

Or you can catch some shorter clips on their YouTube channel, including the awesome video for their latest track (Riot in the Ranger) on their official YouTube channel.

If you’ve got a favorite Fauxgrass song, please feel free to leave a link the comments below. We can’t wait to see these guys at the Barn!
